Candidate Filing Week Starts Monday, May 4, 2026

May 4, 2026

Candidates for Public Office, including Precinct Committee Officers, may File to Run during Candidate Filing Week, May 4-8, 2026 with the Spokane County Elections Office.

Candidates for Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) must complete a Declaration of Candidacy during Candidate Filing Week to become a candidate. Learn more on how to file to run for PCO at the Spokane County Elections Office PCO Candidate Filing website.

There is no charge to run to become a PCO. Anyone who considers themself to be a Democrat (and who is a registered voter) may run to represent their precinct as a Democratic Party Precinct Committee Officer.

Precinct Committee Officers elect the leadership of their local party organizations (legislative district as well as county) and help to fill vacancies if a there's a vacancy in a Democratic partisan elected office.

Candidates for PCO are automatically elected if they run without opposition. In contested PCO races, an election will be held as part of the August primary election. Elected PCOs take office on December 1, 2026 and serve through November 30, 2028.

Existing Democratic PCOs may be viewed on the PCOs and Leadership page of the Third Legislative District Democrats website.
