Elected PCO Candidates in the 3rd LD Swamp County Elections Office

May 23, 2016

A record number of candidates have filed for elected Democratic Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) in the 3rd LD --- 78 candidates have filed in 61 different precincts!

15 precincts will have races appearing on the August 2 primary ballot --- including Precinct 3115, where four people are vying to become elected PCO.

There are only 23 precincts without an elected PCO candidate. Those vacancies will be filled by appointment after the term of office begins in December 2016.

Here's the county-wide list of candidates for elected PCO

In 2014, only 28 candidates filed to become elected PCO in 25 precincts in the 3rd LD --- and there were only three contested races appearing on the August 2014 primary ballot.

Precinct Committee Officers lead the grassroots efforts of the Democratic Party in their precinct.

Elected PCOs choose the leadership of the legislative district and vote for the leadership of Spokane County Democrats.

Elected PCOs also choose the State Committeemen and Committeewomen of the LD and County Party to represent us on the Washington State Democratic Central Committee, which determines policy for the Democratic Party in Washington.
